What RV maintenance products should I keep on hand?

A working maintenance kit covers four areas: roof care (soft-bristle roof brush, EPDM or TPO-safe cleaner, Dicor or Sikaflex sealant for seams), rubber care (slide-out and door seal conditioner to prevent dry rot), tank care (black and gray tank treatments), and appliance care (anode rods for water heaters, refrigerator door gaskets). If you store your rig seasonally, also stock antifreeze and bypass fittings from our RV Winterizing Kits collection.

How often should I condition my RV slide-out and door seals?

Apply a rubber seal conditioner every 3 to 6 months, and always before long-term storage. EPDM rubber dries out under UV exposure and develops cracks that lead to water intrusion and air leaks. A 3-in-1 RV rubber conditioner works on slide-out seals, slide topper fabric, and door gaskets. Clean the seal with mild soap and water first, let it dry, then wipe the conditioner on with a clean cloth.

What is the right way to clean an RV rubber roof?

Use a soft-bristle RV roof brush (never a stiff scrub brush) with a cleaner rated for EPDM or TPO membranes. Avoid any product containing petroleum distillates, citrus, or harsh solvents: they break down the rubber. Work in 3 to 4 foot sections, rinse thoroughly, and inspect every seam and penetration while you are up there. Plan on a full cleaning twice a year, plus spot cleaning after heavy tree sap or bird droppings.

How do I know which water heater anode rod fits my RV?

Anode rods are tank-specific. Suburban water heaters use a 3/4 inch NPT magnesium or aluminum/zinc anode rod, while Atwood and most Dometic units use a plastic drain plug instead (no anode required, the tank is aluminum-lined). Confirm the brand and model number stamped on the heater door before ordering. If you have a Suburban 6 or 10 gallon unit, the Camco anode rod is the standard replacement, browse compatible parts in our 10 Gallon RV Water Heater collection.

Do you carry Onan Cummins generator maintenance parts?

Yes. We stock oil filters, air filters, spark plugs, and service kits for common Onan Cummins RV generators including the Microquiet 4000, Marquis Gold, and P-series inverter units. Have your generator spec number ready when ordering: it appears on the data tag and determines which filter and plug part numbers fit your unit. For tailgating and short-run generator setups, see our Ultimate Tailgate Collection.

What roof sealant works with Dicor and Sikaflex repairs?

For EPDM rubber roofs, use Dicor self-leveling lap sealant on horizontal seams and Dicor non-sag on vertical surfaces. Sikaflex 221 is a polyurethane sealant suited to body seams, window frames, and metal-to-metal joints, not horizontal rubber roof seams. Always match the new sealant chemistry to whatever is already on the roof: silicone, polyurethane, and Dicor lap sealant do not bond to each other, so remove the old bead fully before reapplying.

How do I order the right cover gasket or roof seal for my AC or vent?

Cover and roof gaskets are model-specific. Part number 531603, for example, fits a particular Dometic application and will not seal a Coleman or Furrion unit. Pull the model and serial number off the rooftop unit data plate (or the interior ceiling assembly) before ordering. If you are unsure, text or call 817-984-1852 with your numbers and we will confirm fitment before you buy.
