What is TPO RV roofing material and why is it used?

TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) is a single-ply membrane used on most modern RV roofs because it reflects UV, resists punctures, and stays flexible across temperature swings. It bonds to the roof deck with a contact adhesive and seals at the edges, vents, and AC openings with self-leveling lap sealant. Our RV Roofing collection carries the membrane, adhesive, sealants, and patch materials needed for a complete repair or full re-roof.

What comes in a TPO RV roof kit?

A complete TPO roof kit typically includes the TPO membrane sized to your roof length, water-based bonding adhesive, lap sealant for terminations and seams, and butyl tape for sealing under trim and vent flanges. Confirm your roof width and length before ordering, and inspect the roof deck for soft spots or rot that will need to be replaced before the new membrane goes down. If you are also resealing or replacing roof vents, see our Ventline vent accessories for matching hardware.

How do I know which TPO roof size to order for my camper?

Measure the roof from the leading edge of the front cap to the trailing edge of the rear cap, then measure the widest point side to side. Add 6 to 12 inches in both directions to allow for trimming at the edges and wrapping under the front and rear caps. If your RV has a skylight or rooftop AC, plan your cutouts before applying adhesive. Compatible accessories like Icon premium skylights can be installed during the same re-roof project to avoid resealing twice.

What other supplies should I have on hand for an RV roof replacement?

Beyond the membrane and adhesive, plan for a sharp utility knife, a seam roller, a stiff-bristle broom for working out air bubbles, replacement butyl tape for vents and trim, and self-leveling lap sealant for every penetration. Many owners also replace roof vents, AC gaskets, and antenna seals at the same time since the roof is already stripped. For air conditioner gasket and assembly hardware, check the matching ceiling assembly kits in our Coleman ducted ceiling assembly collection.
