Cubiertas para tanques de gas LP

The propane tanks on a travel trailer or fifth wheel sit at the front of the rig, exposed to road debris, UV rays, rain, and whatever else the road throws at them while traveling. An LP gas tank cover protects the cylinders from that kind of damage, helps prevent corrosion, and gives the front of the trailer a cleaner appearance at the campsite.

Covers are available for single and dual tank setups, in sizes to fit 20 lb and 30 lb cylinders, and in materials ranging from hard polypropylene to vinyl and polyester. Most include valve access ports so you can check or adjust the regulator without removing the cover. Check your tank size and configuration before ordering to get the right fit.

What size RV propane tank cover do I need?

Size depends on tank capacity and how many tanks sit on your A-frame. Most travel trailers carry two 20 lb or two 30 lb cylinders side by side. A 30 lb tank is several inches taller than a 20 lb tank, so an RV propane tank cover sized for 20 lb tanks will not close over 30 lb tanks. Before ordering, measure tank height to the top of the valve, the overall width across both tanks, and the depth. Compare those numbers to the dimensions on each listing in this collection, and leave room for the regulator and the hold-down bracket between the tanks.

How does a camper propane tank cover attach to my trailer?

Most hard-shell covers sit over the tanks and lock to the center hold-down rod on your A-frame tank bracket. The rod passes through a hole in the top of the cover and is secured with a wing nut or knob. Check that your bracket has a center rod and that it is long enough to clear the top of the cover before you order a camper propane tank cover. The tongue jack usually sits just below the tank area, so on soft ground set the jack on Lynx RV leveling blocks to keep the front of the trailer stable while you work.

Does an RV gas tank cover need ventilation?

Yes. Propane is heavier than air, so any leak at a valve or fitting has to be able to drain out and away from the tanks. RV gas tank covers are built with an open bottom or vent openings for this reason. Do not wrap, seal, or modify a cover in a way that blocks airflow. The cover also shields the regulator from rain, road spray, and ice. Keep the regulator vent pointing down so water cannot collect in it.

Can I open the valves and switch tanks without removing the cover?

On most hard covers, yes. Many have a hinged door or removable front panel that gives you access to the tank valves and the changeover regulator indicator. Soft vinyl covers usually lift off or open with a zipper. Check each product listing to see how access works before you buy. Other openings on the front of the trailer take the same weather exposure; for exterior cable entry points, see our RV cable hatches. Not sure which propane tank cover fits your RV?
