What is an outside neo angle skylight and where is it used on an RV?

An outside neo angle skylight is the exterior dome that mounts over the shower or bath area on many RVs with an angled (neo angle) shower stall. The neo angle shape follows the diagonal corner cut of the shower pan, so the dome itself has a non-rectangular footprint. If you have a standard rectangular shower opening, you will want a different profile. For interior trim rings and matching parts, see our Icon Premium Skylights collection.

How do I measure my RV skylight for a correct replacement?

Measure the outside dimensions of the existing dome at its base flange: length, width, and the diagonal cut on the angled corner. Also note the rise (dome height) and the opening size cut into the roof. Neo angle domes are not interchangeable with rectangular skylights, so confirm all three measurements before ordering. If your old dome is cracked or missing, measure the roof opening itself and add the flange width.

What material are these skylights made from and how long do they last?

These domes are molded from UV-stabilized acrylic, which holds up to sun exposure better than standard plastic and resists yellowing and cracking. Expected service life is typically 8 to 12 years depending on climate, with hot southern installations on the shorter end. Reseal the flange every season with a self-leveling lap sealant to keep water out around the edges. For roof vent replacements in the same area, see our Ventline Vent Essential Accessories.

Do I need to replace the inner trim ring when I replace the outside dome?

Not always. If the inner trim ring is intact and the gasket between the dome and roof is in good shape, you can replace just the outside dome. Replace the inner ring if it is cracked, discolored, or no longer seals flush against the ceiling. Always use fresh butyl tape under the new flange and self-leveling sealant over the screw heads.
