What is the difference between single-zone and multi-zone installations?

A single-zone setup uses one thermostat to control one rooftop AC unit, the typical configuration for shorter trailers and most Class C coaches. A multi-zone setup links two or more rooftop units to a shared control system so each zone (front living area, bedroom) can be set independently, common in fifth wheels and longer motorhomes.
