How do I know which RV step will fit my camper?

Three measurements determine fitment: the door opening width (typically 24" or 26"), the ground-to-doorway height (which sets the number of steps you need), and the mounting bracket pattern on your existing step frame. Confirm your current step's manufacturer and model number before ordering. If you're replacing an electric step, also verify the 12V wiring connector and motor side (driver or passenger). Can I replace just the step tread instead of the whole assembly?

Yes, in most cases. If the step frame, hinges, and motor (on electric units) are still working, swapping the tread or step pad is a straightforward repair and far less expensive than replacing the full assembly. We stock individual replacement treads for common Lippert, Kwikee, and Stromberg Carlson steps. Match the tread length and bolt-hole pattern to your existing unit before ordering.

Do RV steps ship free?

Yes, orders over $100 ship free within the contiguous US. Larger step assemblies and quad-step units may ship via standard ground freight depending on size and weight; the shipping method is shown at checkout. Are powered electric RV steps worth the upgrade over manual steps?

Electric steps deploy and retract automatically when the door opens, which keeps the steps tucked under the rig while driving and removes the bend-and-pull motion that wears out manual hinges. They draw 12V power from the house battery and use a magnetic door switch or override toggle. The tradeoff is added cost, more components to maintain (motor, linkage, controller), and the need to verify your battery system can handle the draw. For full-timers and anyone with mobility considerations, the upgrade is usually worth it.
