The water pump is what pressurizes your RV's fresh water system, moving water from the onboard tank to your faucets, shower, and toilet whenever you are not connected to a campsite hookup. When a pump fails, runs constantly, or loses pressure, getting the right replacement quickly matters.

Most RV water pumps run on 12V DC and are self-priming on-demand diaphragm pumps, with flow rates typically ranging from 3.0 to 3.5 GPM. Shurflo and Flojet are the two most common brands found in factory-installed systems. When replacing your pump, match the GPM rating and port size of your existing unit to keep the swap straightforward. Browse our selection below and confirm your fit before ordering.

What size RV water pump do I need?

Start with the label on your existing pump and match three numbers: flow rate in gallons per minute (GPM), pressure switch shut-off setting in PSI, and inlet/outlet fitting type. Most RV water pumps fall between 3.0 and 5.5 GPM, with shut-off settings typically between 45 and 65 PSI. A 3.0 GPM pump handles one fixture at a time. If you run the shower and kitchen faucet together, look at 4.0 GPM or higher. Confirm your RV plumbing is rated for the higher pressure before upsizing. Text or call 817-984-1852 with your current pump's model number and we'll help you match it.

Do RV water pumps run on 12V?

Yes. Most fresh water pumps in this collection are 12V DC units that draw from your house battery, so they work when you're dry camping without shore power. When you're plugged in, your converter supplies that 12V. A weak converter can leave the pump running slowly or cycling at low voltage. If your converter is aging, check its output and compare replacements in our 55 amp RV power converters or 25 amp RV power converters.

Why does my camper water pump turn on when no faucet is open?

A pump that cycles for a second or two with every tap closed is losing pressure somewhere in the system. Check first for a dripping faucet, a leaking toilet water valve, or a wet fitting under the sink. If the plumbing is dry, a failed internal check valve or pressure switch in the pump is usually the cause. Some pump models accept a replacement pressure switch. On others, replacing the pump is the practical repair.

My RV fresh water pump runs but no water comes out. What should I check?

Confirm the fresh tank has water and the winterizing valve is set back to draw from the tank. Next, clean the inlet strainer, because debris there starves the pump. Air locks are also common after refilling a dry tank: open a faucet and let the pump run briefly to purge the line. If the pump hums but still won't prime after these checks, the diaphragm is likely worn and the pump needs replacing.

How do I use my water pump for RV winterizing?

Set your water heater bypass first so you don't fill a 6 or 10 gallon tank with antifreeze. Then use the pump's winterizing valve or a siphon kit to draw RV antifreeze into the lines, and open each faucet until pink fluid runs. If you're replacing your water heater during off-season work, check whether your bypass valves fit the new unit before you install one of our 10 gallon RV water heaters.
