A functioning roof vent is one of the most practical features in any RV. It pulls hot air and cooking odors out of the cabin, reduces condensation, and keeps fresh air moving through the interior whether you are parked or on the road. When a vent stops opening, the fan stops working, or the lid cracks from weather exposure, it affects day-to-day comfort more than most people expect.

Our selection of RV roof vents includes complete powered and manual vent units, replacement screen frames, and ceiling garnishes from trusted brands including Hengs, Dometic, Maxxair, and Ventline, in a range of configurations to suit most standard 14"" x 14"" roof openings.

Check your existing vent brand and model before ordering to confirm the correct fit for your RV.

What is the standard size for an RV roof vent?

Nearly every RV roof vent on the market uses a 14" x 14" roof opening, which is the industry standard set decades ago. Measure the cutout in your roof, not the existing vent lid, before ordering. If your opening is non-standard, you may need an adapter plate or a different style of vent assembly. For related rooftop components, see our Icon Premium Skylights collection for matching skylight replacements.

Are RV vent covers universal?

Most aftermarket vent covers fit any 14" x 14" roof vent, which covers the vast majority of RVs, travel trailers, and fifth wheels built in the last 30+ years. Vent covers (also called vent lids or rain shields) install over the existing vent housing and allow you to keep the vent open while driving or during rain. Always confirm your vent base measurements before ordering, especially on older or imported rigs. For specific Ventline applications, see Ventline Vent accessories.

How do I know if I need a new vent lid or the entire vent assembly?

If the lid is cracked, yellowed, or missing but the base, hinge, and crank mechanism are intact, a replacement lid is the right call. If the crank is stripped, the screen is damaged, or the base shows water intrusion, replace the full vent assembly. Sun exposure is the most common cause of lid failure, UV degrades the ABS plastic over a few seasons. Replacement lids typically install with four screws and take under 15 minutes.

Can I leave my RV roof vent open while driving?

Only if you have an aftermarket vent cover installed over the lid. The cover deflects wind and rain, letting you ventilate the cabin at highway speeds without water intrusion or wind damage to the lid itself. Without a cover, an open vent lid will catch wind and snap off, this is one of the most common roof damage claims on RVs. A vent cover plus a working roof fan also helps pull heat out of the cabin during travel.

What tools do I need to replace an RV roof vent?

For a full vent assembly swap you'll need a putty knife to break the old sealant, a cordless drill, a caulk gun, self-leveling lap sealant (Dicor is the standard), and butyl tape for the new mounting flange. Plan for an hour on the roof in dry weather. Clean the roof surface thoroughly before bedding the new vent, residual old sealant is the main reason replacements leak.

Do you offer free shipping on RV roof vents and vent covers?
