Roof vents and skylights serve two distinct but equally practical purposes on an RV. Vents keep air moving through the cabin, reduce heat buildup, control condensation, and help remove cooking odors and stale air. Skylights let natural light into spaces like bathrooms and hallways that have no windows, making the interior feel more open and comfortable.

Both components are exposed to UV rays, weather, and the vibration of travel, and replacing a cracked lid, yellowed skylight dome, or worn vent unit is a straightforward way to restore function and appearance.

Our selection covers roof vents, replacement lids, vent covers, and skylight domes from Maxxair, Hengs, Ventline, Dometic, and Specialty Recreation in a range of sizes and finishes. Check your existing unit's dimensions and brand before ordering to confirm the correct replacement.

What size RV skylight do I need for a replacement?

Most RV skylights use a standard rough opening of either 14" x 22" (the most common size) or 22" x 34" for larger bathroom and shower skylights. Measure the cutout in your roof, not the existing dome, since dome flanges overhang the opening by 1-2 inches on each side. Confirm the inside-to-inside opening dimensions before ordering, and check whether you need a smoke (tinted) or clear dome. For premium replacement options, see our Icon Premium Skylights collection.

What is the difference between an RV roof vent and a skylight?

An RV roof vent moves air, with a hinged lid, screen, and often a 12V fan, mounted over a 14" x 14" opening above the kitchen, bath, or living area. A skylight is a fixed acrylic dome over a sealed cutout (typically above the shower) that lets in daylight but does not open or ventilate. Some shower skylights are paired with a separate vent fan nearby. For vent hardware and lids, see our Ventline Vent essential accessories.

How do I replace a cracked RV skylight dome?

Remove the interior trim ring and screws, then break the old butyl seal and lift the cracked dome off the roof. Scrape away the old sealant down to clean fiberglass or aluminum, set the new dome on a fresh bead of butyl tape, reinstall the screws, and seal the perimeter and every screw head with a self-leveling lap sealant rated for your roof material. Always confirm the part number stamped on the dome flange before ordering a replacement.

Are RV skylight vent covers worth installing?

A skylight vent cover (an exterior shield over a vent lid) lets you leave the vent open while driving or during light rain, which helps with moisture and odor control inside the rig. Covers are a practical add-on if you cook, shower, or travel with pets in the RV. Pair the right cover with a working vent lid and screen for the best result.

Do you offer free shipping on RV vents and skylights?

Yes. Orders over $100 ship free within the contiguous U.S. Most domes, vent lids, and replacement parts ship via standard ground; oversized skylights or full vent assemblies may ship via freight, which is noted on the product page.
