A worn or damaged slide out seal is one of the most common causes of water intrusion, drafts, and road debris getting inside your RV. The seals around your slide out room create a weathertight barrier when the slide is retracted, protecting your interior from the elements on the road and at the campsite.

Over time, exposure to UV rays, extreme temperatures, and regular use causes these seals to crack, compress, or pull away from the frame. Our selection covers wiper seals, bulb seals, and cap seals to fit a range of slide out styles and sizes. If you are unsure which seal matches your setup, check your RV's make, model, and slide out dimensions before ordering.

Maintaining Your RV Slide-Out Like a Pro

One crucial aspect of maintaining your RV is the care of its RV slide-out mechanisms. RV slide-outs, those magical walls that expand living areas at the push of a button, require regular checks and tune-ups to ensure smooth operation and prevent costly repairs.

How do I know when my RV slide-out seals need replacement?

Look for visible cracking, flattening, or splits in the rubber, daylight showing through the seal when the slide is extended, water staining on interior walls below the slide, or persistent drafts. Wiper seals that no longer spring back to their original shape have lost their memory and will leak. If you can see hairline gaps along the top or sides when the slide is out, the bulb or D-seal is compressed past its serviceable life and should be replaced before the next season.

What is the difference between a wiper seal and a bulb seal?

Wiper seals are flat, fin-style seals that ride along the top and sides of the slide-out as it moves in and out, sweeping debris and water off the slide wall. Bulb seals (sometimes called D-seals) are hollow rubber profiles that compress when the slide is fully extended or retracted, creating the watertight gasket around the opening. Most RVs use both: wipers on the exterior to clean and shed water, and bulb seals on the interior side of the opening to seal against the slide-out face.

How do I measure and order the correct slide-out seal?

Measure the full perimeter length of the seal you are replacing, plus the height of the seal profile (the distance from the mounting base to the top of the bulb or wiper) and the width of the base where it attaches to the wall. Photograph the existing profile in cross-section if possible. Slide-out seals are sold by linear foot for most profiles, so always confirm your model number and slide dimensions before ordering. If you need help matching a profile, the team at United RV Parts can verify fitment, text or call 817-984-1852.

How do I maintain RV slide-out seals to extend their life?

Clean the seals two or three times a year with mild soap and water to remove road grime and tree sap, then treat them with a rubber-safe conditioner (303 Protectant or a dedicated slide seal lubricant) to prevent UV cracking and keep the rubber pliable. Avoid petroleum-based products, which will degrade the seal compound. Inspect the slide mechanism and roof seams at the same time, since water intrusion often combines with seal failure. For interior odor and tank maintenance while you are doing seasonal service, see our Thetford holding tank chemicals and pair seal work with a roof vent check using Ventline vent accessories.

Can I install slide-out seals myself?

Yes. Most slide seals are a straightforward DIY job: peel off the old seal, clean the mounting channel or wall surface with isopropyl alcohol, and press the new seal into the channel or apply it to the prepped surface with the factory adhesive backing. Plan for two to four hours per slide depending on size and access. Work in moderate temperatures (60-80°F) so the rubber stays flexible and the adhesive bonds properly. While the slide is out and accessible, it is also a good time to inspect related systems like your RV back-up cameras and exterior trim.

Do you carry seals for specific slide-out brands and mechanisms?

This collection covers 121 slide-out parts including wiper seals, bulb seals, D-seals, and corner pieces compatible with Lippert, Schwintek, BAL, Power Gear, and HWH slide mechanisms found on most major RV brands. Confirm the seal profile and your slide manufacturer before ordering, since two seals that look similar can have different base widths or bulb heights. If you are unsure which profile matches your rig, send a photo of the existing seal cross-section to our team.
