A reliable furnace is essential for comfortable camping once temperatures drop, whether you are extending your season into fall or traveling through colder climates. When your existing furnace stops igniting, runs inefficiently, or has reached the end of its service life, a direct replacement gets your heat back quickly.

Our selection covers RV furnaces from Suburban and Dometic across a range of BTU outputs to suit different RV sizes and heating needs. We carry both complete replacement units and replacement furnace cores for situations where only the heating core needs to be swapped out rather than the entire assembly.

If you are replacing a Suburban unit, check the Suburban Replacement Core Crossover Chart to confirm the compatible model for your existing furnace before ordering.

Troubleshooting Guide for Common RV Furnace Issues: Stay Warm on Your Travels

Your RV furnace is a vital component, especially during chilly nights or winter travels, ensuring warmth and comfort inside your mobile haven. However, encountering issues with your furnace can quickly turn a cozy journey into a chilly predicament. Fear not! This troubleshooting guide is here to help you diagnose and resolve common RV furnace issues, keeping you snug and comfortable on your travels.

What types of RV furnaces and furnace parts does this collection include?

This collection covers 54 RV furnace products, including complete Suburban and Atwood LP gas furnaces, replacement control boards, sail switches, limit switches, thermostats, blower motors, igniters, and burner assemblies. Whether you are replacing a whole unit or rebuilding an existing furnace, match your current BTU rating (typically 16,000 to 40,000 BTU) and ducted vs. non-ducted configuration before ordering. For related climate and ventilation components, see our RV electronics collection.

How do I know which RV furnace replacement fits my camper?

Pull the model and serial tag off your existing furnace (usually inside the access panel or on the burner box) and match three specs: BTU output, duct configuration (ducted or non-ducted), and cabinet dimensions. Suburban NT, SF, and P-series and Atwood/Dometic AFMD and Hydro Flame units each have distinct mounting footprints, so a 20,000 BTU Suburban does not drop into an Atwood opening without an adapter kit. Confirm your model number before ordering, or text our team at 817-984-1852.

What are the most common Suburban furnace parts that fail?

On Suburban NT and SF series furnaces, the usual failure points are the circuit board (often a 521099 or 520947), the sail switch, the limit switch, and the spark electrode. A furnace that clicks but does not light is typically an igniter or board issue; a furnace that runs briefly then shuts off is usually a sail switch or airflow problem. This collection stocks OEM Suburban replacements for all of these components.

Do RV furnaces in this collection run on propane, electric, or both?

Every furnace listed here is an LP gas furnace with 12V DC ignition and blower control. They draw propane from your onboard tanks for heat and 12V from your house batteries to run the fan and electronics, which means they will operate off-grid as long as you have propane and battery power. For 120V backup heat or shore-power-only setups, pair the furnace with accessories from our RV plug adapters collection to make sure your electrical hookups support the rest of your climate system.

Should I winterize my RV furnace at the end of the season?

The furnace itself does not hold water, so it does not need to be drained, but the surrounding plumbing does, and a clean furnace runs more reliably in cold weather. Before storage, vacuum the burner box, check the combustion air intake for wasp nests or debris, and verify the sail switch moves freely. For full system protection, see our RV winterizing kits collection.

How much does shipping cost on RV furnaces?

Smaller furnace parts (boards, switches, igniters, thermostats) ship standard ground. Complete furnace units are heavier and may ship via truck freight depending on size and destination. Orders over $100 qualify for free shipping on eligible items. Specific freight costs are noted on individual product pages.
