What does a Bluetooth RV surge protector do that a standard one does not?

A Bluetooth RV surge protector sends live diagnostic data to your phone, line voltage, frequency, polarity, open ground, open neutral, and fault history, so you can verify shore power from inside the rig before plugging in sensitive electronics. Standard units only show LED codes at the pedestal. The Bluetooth models in this collection also log events, which helps when a park's pedestal trips repeatedly and you need proof for the campground or your insurer.

Do I need a 30 amp or 50 amp Bluetooth surge protector?

Match the protector to your RV's shore power cord, not the pedestal. A 30 amp rig uses a TT-30 plug and needs a 30 amp unit; a 50 amp rig uses a NEMA 14-50 plug and needs a 50 amp unit. If you camp at parks with mixed pedestals, pair your protector with the right RV plug adapters so you can step down from 50 amp to 30 amp or 30 amp to 20 amp without bypassing protection.

Are these portable units or hardwired EMS systems?

This collection covers both. Portable Bluetooth surge protectors plug in between the pedestal and your shore cord, useful if you move between rigs or want to lock the unit at the pedestal. Hardwired EMS units install inside the RV after the shore inlet and cannot be stolen. Most models in this collection are from Southwire Surge Guard RV surge protectors, which publish full joule ratings and response times in the spec sheet.

Will a Bluetooth surge protector shut off power during a fault?

Only the EMS (Electrical Management System) models do. A basic surge protector clamps voltage spikes but will not disconnect for low voltage, high voltage, or miswired pedestals. EMS units in this collection automatically cut power on faults like under-voltage below roughly 104V or over-voltage above 132V on a 120V leg, then reconnect after a built-in delay to protect compressors in your air conditioner and refrigerator.
